The Novitiate is a time of discernment and clarifying one's vocation so as to enable a radical and resonsible choice. It is a time of mutual discernment for the Congregation and the novice to ascertain the authenticity of God's call to life in the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Paul the Apostle.
The period of the Novitiate normally lasts two years and during this time the novice is helped to discover more fully the Gospel way of life and learn to live it. She acquires a deeper understanding of the spiritual life and of the ways in which to grow in a closer union with Christ, through prayer, and intensive study of the Scriptures, reflection and solitude.
Sharing her life with her Sisters, in companionship and love, the Novice comes to realise the meaning and importance of community for her religious life. She learns to accept her own strengths and limitations, as well as those of others.
